CHB Kāhui Ako will support all learners on their journey of hauora. This includes embracing and developing reciprocal relationships that enhance learning and support wellbeing.
Hauora / Wellbeing
In Te Ao Maori, a holistic view of health and wellbeing, known as hauora is paramount. It comprises taha tinana (physical well-being), taha hinengaro (mental and emotional well-being), taha whanau (social well-being), and taha wairua (spiritual well-being)

Hauora / WellBeing RōPū 2024
Purpose:
To support all students to feel valued as successful, resilient life long learners who contribute positively to their community.
Goals:
Nurture students hauora by developing resilience and emotional literacy
Provide support and inspiration in developing emotion literacy within the classroom
Support students to understand global issues and how it impacts them
Complement restorative practices with the development of relationships within the classroom to improve engagement and wellbeing
Assist schools and teachers in understanding the local resources available to support wellbeing in our community
Provide support, resources and information to whanau to support personal and whanau wellbeing
Recipricol year 8/9 kaiako/teacher visits to support kaiako/teacher understanding of students in a primary school setting transitioning into a college environment

Neuro Diversity - UDL network team established
Transition from ECE to school
Transition from Year 9 to college
Brain Injury workshop - knowledge and resources about how injury and trauma affect the brain and strategies to support learners in the classroom
Year 8 morning teas - opportunities for year 8 students to make connections and build relationships with peers from other schools to support transitions into college
Supporting ECEs to implement early Structured Literacy skills e.g. phonological awareness activities and resources
CHB Kaiako database created for potential networking opportunities & classroom observations of best practice

Y8-9 Transition RōPū 2023
Purpose:
To prepare and support the students' transition from year 8 to year 9.
Goals / Actions:
Do an audit on the students' needs regarding transitioning from year 9 into college.
Promote the numeracy skills needed for successful transition into secondary education.
Develop a tool for identifying a standard of numeracy understanding that will promote the successful transition into secondary education.

CHB Aspiring Leaders Rōpū 2023
Are you somebody who would like to move into leadership in the future? Are you looking for your next step in your career or wondering what leadership is about? This group is for you.
This professional learning group facilitated by Brad Gay will focus on developing leadership skills, how to navigate different roles including job application processes and the different aspect of leadership.

Transition to School RōPū 2022
Purpose:
To build connections and strengthen transitions within and between schools and early childhood centres in Central Hawkes Bay.
Goals / Actions:
Build relationships, visit and share knowledge between ECE and NE teachers and between year 8 and college teachers.
To gather authentic data with the intention of creating an ECE to NE transition report. This report would go to kura with the child with the purpose of giving the NE teacher a clearer picture of the child’s current level of competencies.
Support transition process of students transferring between schools and from Y8 to college.
Reciprocal sharing of knowledge to support our diverse learners, Maori, Pasifika and low socio-economic tamariki
Road trips - ECE/Junior, Middle School, Senior teachers visit senior classes and college
